I like to lather it thoroughly and let it sit for at least 3 minutes before rinsing to give the ingredients time to do their job.

Personally, I like to follow with a hydrating conditioner and let that sit for a few minutes as well to help replenish moisture and keep the hair feeling soft and healthy.
